We have a lab mix who is about nine-and-a-half. She weighs 100-125 lbs.
She's always been really active,but i've noticed her slowing down, not running anymore, it being more of a struggle for her to get up off the floor, into cars, even up our patio stairs (Our house is one story, thank God). It's not to the point of it being obviously painful, but we still see it.
I'm not an idiot. I can see the signs, and know when lives are getting ready to, well, pass on.
I was planning on having her cremated, but i have a few questions .
First, about what range of prices could we expect? I know it differs everywhere (I'm in WA state, if it helps).
Second, about how much are urns? It doesn't need to be fancy. Simple black would be perfect for my girly.
Also, for you who've cremated pets before, what are the advanteges? My Dad doesn't believe in cremation, but i don't have a clue how to convince him to let me do this.
You need to contact your vet and discuss this. Your vet will be able to tell you if this is a service that is available (from him, or in your area).
It's good that you are planning ahead. When my last dog died, it was at the vet hospital, so I asked the vet to dispose of the dog for me. It was too painful to go get her and bring her home for burial. I didn't ask about cremation, as it never occurred to me that anyone would cremate a pet.
