I have a bag full of pennies from 1942-1944!!..?
i have a bag full of pennies from the ww2 days.. i heard that they cut back on making pennies those yrs. because they used the copper for bullets or something like that!!! any ideas.?
In 1942, the Lincoln Cent was made of 95% copper.
In 1943, the Lincoln Cent was made of zinc plated steel.
From 1944 through 1946, the Lincoln Cent was made from used copper bullet casings.
Circulated 1943 Cents might be worth $0.10 to $0.75 apiece depending upon the mint mark and contiditon, but the others are probably worth less than a nickel apiece. I hope that helps.
