What other "tree makers" are available other than Family Tree Maker?
I am looking for "tree maker" type software under $75 that would be similar to Family Tree Maker. I have that product.
I am seeking to compare products. Please give me a summary of pros and cons.
This will give me additional resources to expand my ability to serve more folks in connecting up to their family roots and history. It would also make a way for me to be available to assist other family history genealogists and researchers.
Many thanks and God bless you and yours...

Well, here is an independent comparison of the top genealogy software. I have always used PAF, which is free, and it does everything I want. Having used it for more than 20 yrs, I can't tell you against the other programs.
A genealogy program, however, is just a way to store what you find. All standard brands will transfer info between each other, using gedcom.
I am confused by your comment "serve more folks". The genealogy software you use is not critical to sharing with other persons, or help other researchers. That would, I think, only come into discussion, if you are trading large databases, and even then, gedcom makes that possible.
My personal conviction is that the accuracy of the contents is far more relevant, than the brand of program used. I 'work' with persons here everyday, in finding sources of info for their relatives. In nearly every case, it involves a focus on one immediate person, or parents/children, which doesn't require any coordinating of software.
With all respect, I'll repeat something I say often. The actual sources or records used for finding ancestry, have all been around, long before computers or the internet. Those core records and sources are what form the basis of research. Not the program for storage, or the websites that help find them.
