I have been given a task to design a NEW memorial for a soldier that died in WW1. So not a Poppy but something new but better than a gravestone. Maybe something people could wear apart from a Poppy? Any ideas
I think a physical memorial in iron -
A WWI rifle with bayonet fixed stuck in the ground (point down) with a WWI gas mask hanging from the butt that is sticking up in the air.
That would remind people of the horrors of the fighting in three ways -
the ground representing the trenches
the fixed bayonet representing the dreadfull hand-to-hand fighting
and the gas mask to represent the disgraceful use of chemical warfare
