What would be you reaction if you saw a college student with a red star, yellow hammer and sickle lapel pin?
I think my son is hanging out with communists!!!
He was congregating with two other students. One wore a black suit, red shirt red tie.
The other one wore a red suit, black shirt yellow tie.
Both of them had lapel pins of a red star and the hammer and sickle!
What's going on here?
Do they represent President Obama!?
I just graduated High School and am starting college. Believe it or not there are actually communist children in school. The party aims at getting the children... (sound like somebody else we remember?).
I would get in a political discussion with him. Something that seems to be commonplace, but from his answers you should be able to determine weather or not he has true communist values. Mention democracy or the wealth gap in America, religion, or what he thinks of socialized health care and how he views our current tax system. Anything which could prove a response displaying communist values.
Also just to make sure he isn't just freaking out and being a Hitler follower, some of the extremists are, then say something in German. Something simple like, "Wie gehts?" or "Guten Nacht", or "abendessen!" (how are you, good night, dinner!" see if he responds in German without thinking. But if you say "Wie gehts" keep in mind the letter W is said like a V in German.
Now, this a free country so, if that is what he really believes then.... maybe you should inform him of how skewed and incorrect his ideas about government are and give him an example of why communism can't work. But you can't force democracy on him and if he really does believe in it then fine. He is free to think and say whatever he want's about politics, religion, or whatever else. It's one of the things that makes this country great.
