whats the difference between a pulpit and a lectern?
A pulpit is an actual structure that surrounds the pastor/minister/priest. There are usually 3 or so steps leading up to the pulpit, and the pulpit usually is a solid structure of ornate carved wood, and elevated above the congregation slightly. A pulpit may have a lectern inside it.
A lectern is more like a simple stand to hold a Bible/notes/written sermon and a microphone. Its usually at floor level, and not nearly as ornate as a pulpit.
