If you own or want to buy a house, would you like to know its history or its "genealogy"?
How much would you pay for a professional house historian to research the history of the house, the people who lived in it, including biographical information about past owners, residents, the builder, etc.? More information than would be contained in a simple chain of title, legal or real estate sales disclosure document. A trained investigator with historical research skills could do this for any older home (50-100 years old and older) even if it was not owned by famous or prominent people.
Think of the trouble it would have saved the family in Poltergeist (or hundreds of other horror movies) if they had such a service.
