Can I have my heart cremated separately from my body?
I know some has had to of asked this before but I was just wondering for myself. My Great grandmother said she wants to be cremated and I would too. If and when I die.. I want the ashes of my heart placed into tiny necklace urns for my kids and hubby. Is it possible to have my heart cremated separately from my body, so that they may always have my heart with them?
That would require you to find a funeral home that would be willing to dissect your body in order to remove your heart, and you will be hard-pressed to find someone to agree to that.
And for what its worth, cremating just the heart would leave you very little or no ashes whatsoever. The heart only weighs a pound or 2, there wouldn't even be any ashes left. Premature babies only end up being a teaspoon, so a heart would simply disintegrate and leave no ashes.
