Genetics question on psychological genes and physical genes?
Have you heard of something called psycological genes, as in if both parents cheat then you have a gene for it and your chances aren't too good that you will remain faithful.
I learned that it is more nurture but my husband swears that he studied about psychological genes. Please give me anyweb pages about psycho genes please.
I think your husband is talking about Richard Dawkin's 'Selfish Gene' idea (and book). It is based on the Darwinian notion that certain traits promote survival of the species, and many people believe that it is adaptive for men to have multiple partners and women to have few. This is because the more women men sleep with, the more of their genes get into the next generation of human beings, thus promoting his personal genes and the species. However women can only produce one child at a time (unless twins etc) so it is only adaptive for them to sleep with one man and stay with him for about 2-3 years until the child can walk.
Naturally men agree with this theory more than women!
